  18. This patch for FIFA RTWC 98 fixes compatibility issues with the Voodoo II chipset.

  21. 2.  Installing the patch for FIFA Road To World Cup 98

  23. Run FIFAV140.EXE - this extracts the updated files to the default install directory. (By default the install directory is 'C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98')

  25. This will update the executable and includes a shortcut, 'FIFA RTWC 98 (Voodoo II)' - you can copy these to your desktop from the FIFA RTWC 98 folder.  These shortcuts allow users to play the Voodoo II-enabled version of the game.

  28. 3.  Using the Voodoo II version of the game

  30. This has been tested on and works with cards equipped with the 3Dfx Voodoo II chipset.

  32. To run the Voodoo II version of the game double click the FIFA RTWC 98 (Voodoo II) shortcut on the desktop.

  34. If FIFA RTWC 98 is installed to a directory other than the default directory, please follow these steps to play the Voodoo II version of the game:
  35. a.  Copy the shortcut included in this patch to the desktop.
  36. b.  Right click on the shortcut.
  37. c.  Click on 'PROPERTIES'
  38. d.  Click on the 'SHORTCUT' icon.
  39. e.  In the 'Target:' box, change the default directory to the installed directory
  40.     ie, change "C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98\FIFARTWC.EXE"
  41.         to
  42.         "{your installed directory}\FIFARTWC.EXE"
  43. f.  In the 'Start in:' box, change the default directory to the installed directory
  44. g.  Click OK
  45. h.  Double click the shortcut to play FIFA RTWC 98 with Voodoo II support enabled.

  48. 4. Multiplayer Game Concerns

  50. All players in a network or modem game must have same version of the game installed.  To prevent out-of-sync errors after the patch is installed, ensure that all participants in network or modem games have installed the patch.
